Additionally, the patient should not wear anything that has metal on it. This means no zippers, no buttons, or jewelry. For those who have a problem finding clothing that complies with the rules, then they can just wear a medical robe.

The scan itself generally takes about forty-five minutes to complete, and during that time the patient is urged to relax, and even fall asleep. After the procedure is done, the scans will be obtained via computer software, and the patient will know the status of their health in about a week. That is basically all that one needs to know about this procedure – except, of course, that thanks to early detection this kind of scan can actually save a person's life.
