Avocent Corp. introduced a new version of its Emerge MPX extender, the MPX1500 high-definition (HD) multipoint extender, which wirelessly distributes HD content from a single source to multiple destinations. Available now for $995, the MPX1500 can be deployed for a variety of professional video applications, such as digital signage, providing panels with live content, entertainment and advertising in retail outlets, theaters, restaurants, airports, and more.

The company also added six other new products to its Emerge product family, which comprise solutions for video processing. The new The Emerge VSS products give AV industry professionals the ability to upscale or downscale video to different resolutions and convert video from DVI to VGA or VGA to DVI. A new Emerge VSM product combines video and audio switching with a video scaler and converter.

Among the new products: The Emerge VSS1000P VGA scaler provides high-quality conversion from composite and S-Video formats to computer or HDTV signals, and bidirectional conversion between computer graphics and HDTV. The Emerge VSS1000H HDMI scaler accepts HDMI signals, DVI signals (via DVI to HDMI cable), PC generated RGB signals (up to WUXGA), HD Component signals (YPbPr/YCbCr, 480i up to 1080i), S-Video, and Composite video signals.
