This procedure is actually a scan, and it can be used to detect abnormalities in the blood vessels of the body. What are the specific kinds of maladies that a CT angiography can scan for? Things like arteriosclerosis, aneurysms, and clots are all examples.

Something that people who have been told that they need a CT angiography ask is in reference to ho they should prepare for such a procedure. The most important thing that the patient will need to do is show up on the day of the procedure wearing comfortable clothing that does not have any metal in it. The patient should also not be wearing any accessories such as glasses that have metal in them. The main reason for this is because the metal will affect the efficiency of the scanning machine.

Another question that people often have about the CT angiography is in regard to what exactly the scanning machine looks like. The machine can be thought of as a large circle with a hole in the middle for a tube. The patent lies down on a narrow examining table that is then pushed back into the machine. The top of the machine will then rotate around the body to scan it. It is important to note that the patient needs to stay completely still while the scan is in progress.

The patient will be asked to lie either on their stomach, on their back, or on their side, depending on the area of the body that is being scanned. Once the contrast material has successfully entered the body, the scan takes place. The amount of time that it takes to complete the scan depends on several different factors, but it usually takes less than a minute for the scans to work. More time is actually spent on the amount of preparation. Once the procedure has been successfully completed, then unless otherwise specified the patient can resume his or her usual activities.
